Carbon monoxide comes first on any gas machine
This is a gasoline engine and it emits carbon monoxide, which is colorless, odorless and can kill in an enclosed space before anyone realizes there is a problem. The electric starter does not change that. Never run this washer indoors, in a basement, in a shed, in a crawl space or in a garage, and opening the garage door does not make a garage acceptable. Operate outdoors only, clear of windows, doors and vents, with the exhaust pointed away from the building and away from anyone working. Refuel outdoors with the engine cold.
The battery is not included
PressuReady works by squeezing the spray gun trigger, which activates a battery operated electric starter with no choke to set and no rope to pull. The unit then shuts off after a few seconds of inactivity to save fuel and reduce noise. A smart control panel carries LED indicators for ready mode, water flow mode and fault conditions covering no fuel and low battery, and the battery compartment is described as oversized and water resistant.
The battery that makes all of this work is not in the box. DeWalt states plainly that the battery is not included and that the machine is compatible with DeWalt 20V MAX and FLEXVOLT batteries sold separately. If you already own DeWalt cordless tools this is a non issue and arguably an advantage. If you do not, then the purchase price is not the whole price, and a gas pressure washer that cannot be started at all without buying a battery and charger first is a materially different proposition. Budget for it.
Who this machine is for and what it settles
It settles whether a gas machine can be as easy to start as an electric one. Recoil starting is the single most common complaint about gas pressure washers, particularly for buyers who use them a few times a year and leave stale fuel in the tank. Trigger activated starting removes that friction entirely, and the automatic shutdown after inactivity addresses the other common annoyance, which is an engine idling loudly while you move a ladder or coil a hose.
At 2.5 gallons per minute the machine moves roughly twice the water of a corded electric, which is what makes driveways and full house exteriors practical rather than tedious. The frame is 29 inches long by 21 inches wide by 40 inches high with a published weight of 76 pounds, so this is a wheeled machine you roll and load with help. Anyone who does not need that flow should compare against the corded electric section first.
The specifications that matter
Published items include the 208cc DeWalt engine, a maintenance free OEM Technologies axial cam pump with a thermal relief valve, welded steel frame construction with a powder coated finish, a MorFlex quarter inch by 25 foot high pressure hose, five quick connect nozzles at 0, 15, 25 and 40 degrees plus soap, a spray gun and a 16 inch steel wand and lance. The certification field reads CETA, and DeWalt’s description states the machine is CETA certified at 3400 PSI at 2.5 GPM. CETA certification is a trade association scheme that verifies a manufacturer’s published performance ratings are measured to a common standard, so this is a claim about the honesty of the numbers rather than an endorsement of the machine. A reader can check the certification listing independently.
That certification is worth more than it sounds. Most listings in the gas powered section publish a maximum pressure with no indication of how it was measured. A CETA certified rating at a stated flow is a considerably firmer number.
Residential or industrial, depending on which line you read
The listing cannot decide what this machine is. The first feature bullet is headed “Premium Residential Performance” and names decks, patios, outdoor furniture and house siding. The product description says the unit is built to perform for professional tasks and closes by describing it as suited to industrial pressure washing, commercial pressure washing and residential pressure washing.
Those are different claims about duty cycle and expected service life, and the difference matters. Sealed axial cam pumps of the type fitted here are normally specified for intermittent residential use; continuous commercial work is where rebuildable triplex pumps are used, as on the Simpson ALH4440. Read the residential bullet as the accurate one and the industrial language as marketing.
Using it correctly
At 3400 PSI the jet can inject water and contaminants through skin, producing a wound that looks like a small puncture and requires emergency surgical treatment. Never aim the wand at a person or an animal, never hold an item in your free hand while spraying, and wear eye protection and closed footwear every time. Keep bystanders, children and pets out of the working area.
Trigger activated starting introduces one habit worth forming: the machine starts when you squeeze the trigger. Treat the gun as live at all times when the system is in ready mode, keep it pointed at the ground, and use the safety catch whenever you set it down. This is different from a recoil start machine that is unambiguously off until you pull the rope.
Begin every surface with the 40 degree tip, hold the wand well back and close the distance rather than switching to a narrower spray. The 0 degree pencil jet will cut wood, remove mortar and strip paint to bare substrate. On lap siding, work downward and diagonally so water is not forced up behind the cladding. On decking keep the tip moving and parallel to the boards.
Limits and gaps in the published data
The machine is 49 state compliant, so it is not certified for new sale in California. Not published: fuel tank capacity, run time, oil type and capacity, warranty term, battery run time per charge, or what happens if the battery is flat and you need the machine now. That last point is worth asking, because on a recoil start machine a dead battery is not a problem that exists.
Feedback is recorded at 4.2 out of 5 from just 18 ratings, with sales rank fields placing it 367th within pressure washers and 86,861st across patio, lawn and garden. Buy it if you already own DeWalt 20V MAX or FLEXVOLT batteries, you want to be rid of recoil starting, and you value a CETA certified performance rating. Do not buy it if you do not own compatible batteries and have not budgeted for one, if you are in California, or if you want a machine that starts with no electronics involved. Run it outdoors only.
