TOOLCY EJX-101 Pressure Washer Short Gun Review: Fitting Sizes and Brass Internals

  • Short trigger gun rated to 5000 PSI and 10.5 GPM, with a 360 degree swivel inlet and a red trigger safety lock.
  • TOOLCY states it does not fit Sun Joe, AR Blue Clean or any machine using M22-15mm hoses without a separately sold adapter.
  • 3/8 inch male inlet with an M22-14mm coupler supplied, and a universal quarter inch quick connect outlet plus five tips.
  • Brass valve internals with a ceramic trigger element that TOOLCY rates for 12,000 cycles as a design figure.
  • The certification field lists EPA, which concerns engine emissions and has no meaning for a trigger gun.

Description

Who this gun is for and what it settles

The TOOLCY EJX-101 is a short trigger gun for a pressure washer, and it settles a control problem rather than a power one. Machines ship with a long gun and lance combination, which is the right tool for a driveway and the wrong one for a wheel arch, a window frame or the underside of a bumper. A short gun with a nozzle fitted directly puts the tip where your hand is, and on detail work that changes how much of the job you can see.

It is a component rated for commercial duty at 5000 PSI and 10.5 GPM, which are ceilings rather than claims about what any machine produces. A gun rated well above the machine feeding it is exactly what you want, because the whole assembly is only as strong as its weakest rated part. At 2.44 pounds it is heavier than the plastic gun most machines ship with, and the weight is where the brass is.

Fit first, and TOOLCY publishes the warning properly

This is the section to read before ordering. TOOLCY states the gun fits pressure washers from SIMPSON Cleaning, Briggs and Stratton, CRAFTSMAN, Champion, Mi-T-M, Honda and Excell, and it states just as clearly that it does not fit Sun Joe, AR Blue Clean or any other machine using M22-15mm hoses. Fitting one of those requires an M22-14mm female to M22-15mm male adapter, which TOOLCY says is sold separately.

Both fittings are called M22 and both look identical in a photograph. The bore differs by one millimeter and the sealing face will not seat, which produces a persistent drip at pressure that no amount of tightening fixes. Anyone with the Sun Joe SPX3000 we review or another machine in that family should budget for the adapter. Our Twinkle Star adapter set review covers the same distinction across a full fitting kit.

The inlet is a 3/8 inch male fitting, with an M22-14mm male coupler supplied so it can be converted. The outlet is a universal quarter inch female quick connector, which takes standard nozzle tips and foam cannons. Five spray tips are included.

The swivel and the trigger

The inlet swivels through 360 degrees, which sounds like a minor detail and is not. On a long session the hose winds up as the operator turns, and a fixed inlet transmits that twist into the wrist. A swivel lets the hose lie where it wants to.

TOOLCY describes the internal trigger assembly as solid brass with a metal connector and spool, a ceramic trigger element rated by the company for 12,000 cycles, and a chrome plated rod support, with a plastic exterior. Brass and ceramic in the wet path is the right material choice, since those are the parts that seize or wear on a cheap gun. The 12,000 cycle figure is the manufacturer’s own design claim rather than a tested standard.

Using it correctly

The gun includes a red safety lock key that blocks the trigger, and TOOLCY specifically frames it as preventing an unintended pull. Use it. Every time the gun is set down, leaned against a wall or handed to someone, the lock should be engaged. A pressure washer jet can force water and surface contaminants through skin, and an injection injury requires immediate medical attention even when the entry wound looks small. Never aim the gun at a person or an animal and never test the spray against your hand.

A short gun changes the working distance in a way that matters. With the nozzle close to your hand, the tip ends up much nearer the surface than it would on a long lance, and that concentrates the energy. Start further back than feels necessary and test on an inconspicuous area, because at a short distance even a wide angle tip will strip paint or raise wood grain.

TOOLCY also states plainly that the gun is for pressure washer use and does not fit garden hoses, water hoses or faucets. That is worth repeating because the quarter inch quick connect outlet looks familiar to anyone used to garden fittings, and it is not the same thing.

Limits and gaps in the listing data

The description field is empty, so the six feature bullets are the entire record. Two specification fields do not make sense. The power source reads Powertools, which is not a power source. The specification met field lists UL and EPA. EPA certification for outdoor power equipment concerns engine emissions, and a brass trigger gun has no engine and produces no emissions, so that entry has no meaning here. The listing names no certificate number for either.

The listed product dimensions are 9.02 by 5.08 by 1.17 inches. A body 1.17 inches thick is not credible for a gun containing a brass valve assembly and a trigger mechanism, so that figure looks like a packaging measurement rather than the gun itself. The weight figures do agree, at 1.11 kilograms in one field and 2.44 pounds in another.

Not published: the maximum inlet water temperature, whether the gun is rated for hot water use, the thread standard on the outlet beyond quarter inch quick connect, the seal material, whether a rebuild kit is available, the warranty term, and the country of origin. On a wearing part, seal availability is the specification most likely to matter in year three. The model is EJX-101 and the UPC is 782429756972. Amazon showed a rating of 4.6 out of 5 across 1,319 ratings at capture, ranked 1,486th in Patio, Lawn and Garden, 8th in pressure washer accessories and 12th in pressure washers.

Alternatives worth comparing

Two other short guns sit in our catalog. The Sooprinse M22 14 mm gun review carries the fitting size in its own part name, which removes the guesswork, and the SEPLY SP03 short gun review covers another option in the same format. Compare all three on the inlet fitting first and the pressure rating second, because the fitting is what decides whether the part is usable at all.

Machines that suit a commercial rated gun sit mainly in the gas pressure washer category, which is where most of the brands TOOLCY names build their higher output units, while the electric field is in the electric pressure washer category.

Who should buy it and who should not

Buy it if you do detail work around vehicles, windows and trim and want the nozzle in your hand rather than at arm’s length, and your machine uses a 3/8 inch or M22-14mm connection. Do not buy it for a Sun Joe or AR Blue Clean machine without also buying the adapter TOOLCY names. Do not read the EPA entry in the certification field as meaningful, and do not use a short gun at long gun working distances, because the tip ends up much closer to the surface.
